Insight Skills Studio

Practical DBT Skills for Everyday Life

Whether you're working through anxiety, managing overwhelming emotions, improving relationships or building resilience, DBT Skills Studio is a practical, skills-based group designed to complement your individual therapy.

 

Each week focuses on one evidence-based DBT skill that you can immediately apply in your daily life. Sessions are interactive, supportive and educational, giving you the opportunity to learn, practise and build confidence using practical tools.

Unlike a traditional closed DBT program, DBT Skills Studio is an open group, allowing you to attend the sessions that are most relevant to your current goals while continuing your individual therapy.

What you'll learn

Across the rotating curriculum you'll develop skills in:

  • Mindfulness

  • Emotion Regulation

  • Distress Tolerance

  • Radical Acceptance

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness

  • Building resilience and relapse prevention
     

Topics include:

  • Wise Mind

  • Opposite Action

  • Check the Facts

  • STOP

  • TIPP

  • Radical Acceptance

  • DEAR MAN

  • Boundaries and Assertiveness

  • Self-Compassion

  • Managing Urges

  • Coping Ahead

  • Building Healthy Relationships

Commences Tuesday 1 September

 

Tuesdays & Fridays
10:00am - 11:30am

$30 per session

Maximum 8 participants

Must have a referral and an individual treating clinician

Who is this group for?

DBT Skills Studio is suitable for adults who would like to strengthen their coping skills alongside their existing therapy.

To participate you must:

  • Be currently working with an individual psychologist or mental health clinician.

  • Complete a brief intake assessment prior to joining.

  • Be able to participate safely in a group learning environment.

 

Please note this is a psychoeducational skills group and is not group therapy or a crisis support service.

What to Expect

Each 90-minute session includes:

  • Guided mindfulness practice

  • Practical psychoeducation

  • Interactive activities and skill practice

  • Worksheets and take-home resources

  • Strategies to apply between sessions

You'll leave each session with practical tools you can use immediately and discuss further with your individual therapist.
